Causes of Yeast Infections
There are many causes of yeast infections. Each type of yeast infection
has its own cause, but there are several overlapping causes. All causes are discussed below.
Types of yeast infections range from minor manifestations to serious
systemic yeast infections.
Causes of yeast infections
Skin to skin contact with other infected individuals
antibiotics
sugar and fat in the diet
stress
damaged protective barrier of the skin
lowered immunity
altered bacterial flora in the gastro-intestinal tract and on the skin
poor general health
Each of these groups of causes of yeast infections will be discussed in some depth.
SKIN TO SKIN CONTACT WITH OTHER, INFECTED INDIVIDUALS
Skin to skin contact or mucous membrane with mucous membrane is how infection is transmitted from one person to another, and is therefore the first mentioned among the causes of yeast infections. Some get severe infections, other minor manifestations. It all depends on the state of the immune system and how massive the damage to the skin was when the yeast was transmitted.
ANTIBIOTICS
When one uses oral antibiotics during infectious diseases, the intestinal flora of microorganisms is altered.
Hugh portions of the original flora is destroyed. Remember,- there is an ecology of the intestines, and when
some bacteria die, others use the opportunity to get the "upper hand". This is true also for fungi and yeast.
When the flora is intact, there is an inner hirarchy with regard to the ratio of the different microorganisms.
When the original ratios are lost, several side effects follow, one of which may be overgrowth and invasion by
yeast. In a normal flora, yeast is checked by other beneficial bacteria. The control function of other bacteria
is lost, wholly or partially when the flora is altered.
SUGAR AND FAT IN THE DIET
Yeast live from sugar/glucose, which is the simplest of carbohydrates. Whenever glucose is ingested and stays
in the intestines for too long, yeast may start outnumbering other microorganisms, and/or start creating
symptoms of bloating, gas-production, diarrea etc etc, either by fermentation or by gas producing microorganisms
multiplying fast by feeding on the sugar. Sugar (sucrose) is a white, chrystalline chemical in
pure form, and chemicals like this are never to be used as nutrition. The body does need sugar
and glucose, but it must be ingested in the form of natural, unprocessed food stuffs like fruits and vegetables,
not in the form of the chrystalline chemical.
Regarding fat: very few people know that one eliminate yeast faster by eliminating fat from the diet that by eliminating
sugar. The reason is: when ingesting large portions of fat (most westerners eat 30-70% of their calories in the form
of fats, whereas 10% is the optimal amount), fat reduces the bodys sensitivity to insulin, and the pancreas will have
to produce more insulin to get the same effect. This exhausts the pacreas and the isles of Langerhans, and the
blood sugar starts rising. Yeast has the mission of ridding the body of surplus sugar, and they multiply and
enjoy life mightily when they are provided so well for. Reducing sugar in the diet is necessary, while the reduction
of fats in the diet is equally important.

STRESS
Stress reduces the functioning of the immune system. This is now a well researched, universally accepted fact.
The mechanisms are many, but one of them is the overproduction of steroid hormones like cortisol in the
adrenal glands, and this hormone both dulls the immune system and encourages the growth of yeast.
Stress can be in any form and on any level; physical, like when over training, mental from overwork, emotional from
disputes and quarrels, and major transitions in life.
DAMAGED PROTECTIVE BARRIERS OF THE SKIN
Too tight underwear, disallowing proper ventilation
Friction from various causes. Too tight clothes.
friction from inadequate lubrication during intercourse
Douching
wearing wet clothes, like bathing suits after bathing.
insufficient drying of skin areas after showers or bathing
Too rough skin-care products in the form of soaps, additives to the bathing water. pH values, fat content etc matters.
increased moisture in genital area or any other skin area, like everywhere when skin is in contact with skin
this happens for example under the breasts of women.
other skin illnesses like eczemas
Too rouch treatment of the skin during showers or bathing, and even
too frequent or too infrequent washing and cleaning of the skin
LOWERED IMMUNITY
Lowered immunity is the result of stress, overwork, other illnesses like f ex diabetes or autoimmune diseases, medication with cortison
or repeated or long antibiotic treatments, P-pills, chemotherapy, abuse of alchohol or other substances that
put an extra load or stress on the body, pregnancy, old age, young age, HIV and AIDS and ingestion of
other pharmaceuticals, large surgical operations, over-taxing the body with heavy training, hormone
replacement therapy.....etc etc.
ALTERED MICROBIOLOGICAL FLORA IN THE INTESTINES, THE SKIN AND MUCOUS MEMBRANES
This happens as a side effect of antibiotics, soaps, some pharmaceutical prescriptions, different medicines, like
cortisone, skin to skin contact with infected individuals, pregnancy, birth control pills, and wrong diet.
POOR GENERAL HEALTH
Hopsitalizations du to serious illnesses, stress in any form, improper diet, diabetes, HIV and AIDS, sugar,
general weakness on all levels; physical and psychological. Insufficient hygiene.
Here ends the discussion on causes of yeast infections.
Below is a desription of how the causes of yeast infections may be eliminated by natural means and remedies.
Natural Treatment of acute yeast infections of the skin
You may consult your doctor and have a prescription, or you may treat yourself, after the diagnosis
has been settled.
If you decide to work on the causes of yeast infections on your own, then you will find your very best procedures and resources
below.
Treatment of systemic yeast infections is dealt with here! (click the link!).
The elimination of the causes of yeast infections involves dietary changes, but for acute infections in mucus membranes and skin, the only change necessary is the elimination of sugar.
Four ingredients when treating acute yeast infections of the skin:
Three natural, immune strengthening herbal medicines to take orally (two, if skin symptoms are absent)
One topically administered remedy (Tamanu oil), if skin symptoms are present
All four are explained below . . .
1-3) Three good natural herbal remedies, very useful for strengthening
your immune system, acting against yeast, and supporting your skin.
(Click on the banners below to find out more about each of the three.)

4) Topical treatement.
Tamanu oil is extremely
good as a topical treatment for all skin infections, yeast and fungi. You will get well!
The Complete Treatment
With . . .
Anti-yeast medication, systemic immune strengthening medication and skin stregthening medication
(the 3 orally administered herbal remedies mentioned above)
Topical treatment
. . . you will cure your present yeast infection.
Additional Note: The orally taken natural herbal medicines and topically administered oil is to
be used only until symptoms have disappeared.
If you consider to make some changes in your diet to eliminate the causes of yeast infections completely, please eliminate sugar from your diet. The best resource on diet
is David Cameron Gikandis "Diet Liberation". You find it here! This book doesn't discuss the causes of yeast infections in particular, but the building of health in general. It still is the best resource on eliminating causes of yeast infections! through dietary changes.
