Childrens Rashes, Best Natural Treatment

Though very common, childrens rashes can be a real concern for parents, especially if there is any blistering. Medical treatment can keep the worst of childhood rashes from creating any permanent scars.

Children have very sensitive skin, most so when infants. When trying to determine what the cause of a rash on a young child it can be difficult to tell, since there are so very many potential causes and many childrens rashes look similar.

Some less severe rashes

Childrens Rashes Much the horror of new mothers everywhere, infants are especially prone to rashes, many of them quite normal. Nearly half of all newborns suffer a mild rash in the first few weeks of life. Cradle cap is also very common, along with the little white bumps on the face and gums. Diaper rash occurs to just about all children at one point or another.

While very unpleasant, impetigo is a relatively common bacterial skin infection that causes a great many golden, crusty lesions to appear. The condition can be cleared up with minimal fuss.

Additionally, many viral conditions can cause rashes on children, but don’t actually pose a threat unless the child is immune-weakened

Common but more severe rashes

Children are very susceptible to heat rash. This and the little bumps of prickly heat can affect any child, with the youngest being most at risk. Removing the child from heat immediately often is sufficient as long as the condition is not too advanced.

Chicken pox is a common viral infection that produces a rash. Scabies and ringworm are parasitic and fungal infections respectively, that occur when several children play together such as in the lower grades. Ringworm will show characteristic growing white rings, while scabies is an itchy mite that is made worse at night and in the bath.

Very serious rashes

There are some childrens rashes that require immediate medical attention. If the rash on your child appears as tiny red dots that don’t lighten when pressed, you should seek treatment for disease as serious as meningitis or Rocky Mountain spotted fever. This is doubly true if accompanied by a fever.

When deciding how seriously to take childrens rashes, you should trust your gut. If the child seems otherwise healthy, even some startling rashes are more normal than you might think.
